Fleury went to the bench with 1:25 to play and the best chance for either side in the final moments came when Smith tried to score into the empty net with 29 seconds left but missed short and wide right.

Smith also picked up his eighth career blanking and third with the Lightning...Former Penguin Mark Recchi added a pair of assists...Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney made his season debut after missing the first 33 games following surgery on his left foot...Pittsburgh had not been blanked at home since January 18 last season against Tampa Bay.
