The final rubber on Sunday will be a doubles one between Russians Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova and Spaniards Nuria Llagostera Vives and Virginia Ruano Pascual.

The Russians are captained by Shamil Tarpischev, while the underdog Spaniards are guided by Miguel Margets Lobato.

Russia is 4-1 all-time against Spain, including a lopsided 5-0 opening-round victory in Moscow last year. It marked their first Fed Cup meeting in 17 years. The two nations have never faced off in Spain.

The powerful Russians have won three of the last four Fed Cup titles, including a victory over then reigning champion Italy in last year's finale.

Spain is a five-time Fed Cup champ, with its last title coming 10 years ago. Only the United States (17) and Australia (7) have won more championships than the Spaniards.
